Little smokies are small fully cooked sausages that you can use in a variety of recipes. From pigs in a blanket to baked beans, these sausages are a great ingredient to work with.
You can find them made with beef or pork, some also have chicken or turkey added to them. If you like smoked sausage, you’ll like little smokies cause they’re the same thing, only smaller.
Can you eat little smokies raw?
Little smokies are sold fully cooked. So, yes, you can eat them straight from the package if you want.
However, they will taste so much better if you take a few minutes to heat them up. Just toss them in a skillet and cook for 5 minutes and you’re good to go.

The ingredients to make these bbq smokies are so simple. You’ll need ketchup, brown sugar, vinegar, little smokies sausages, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. If you really want to rush things, you can use your favorite bottled bbq sauce and omit the ketchup, brown sugar, and vinegar.
How do you make crockpot little smokies?
The first thing you want to do is make your homemade barbecue sauce for your bbq little smokies. Combine the ketchup, brown sugar, and vinegar together until the brown sugar is dissolved. Add the Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder. Whisk to combine.
Put the smokies in the crockpot and heat on low for 20 to 30 minutes, or until the sausages are heated through. Add the barbecue sauce and continue heating on low heat for 15 to 20 minutes or until everything is hot. Serve immediately.
Crockpot BBQ Little Smokies
Ingredients
BBQ Sauce
- 1 cup ketchup
- ¾ cup brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
- 1 teaspoon vinegar
- 2 (14oz) packages of little smokie sausages
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon onion powder
Instructions
- In a medium bowl add ketchup, brown sugar, and vinegar to make your BBQ sauce **see notes
- Whisk together until well combined
- Add in Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder and onion powder
- Whisk again until well combined
- Put the two packages of little smokies into the crockpot and cook on low heat for 20-30 minutes, or until sausages are heated through
- Pour sauce into the crockpot and stir to coat all of the smokies
- Let it continue to set at low heat for an additional 15-20 minutes or until everything is heated through
- Serve immediately
